Welcome to the 2016 MDD Care Innovation Challenge

Major depressive disorder (MDD) is a medical condition that affects about 14 million Americans every year. It causes various symptoms, and can make it difficult to interact with people, work, and perform everyday tasks. We need your help developing ideas that will help patients find solutions, support, and care.

INTERNET ACCESS, A VALID EMAIL ADDRESS, AND A VALID PAYPAL ACCOUNT ARE REQUIRED. Application Period begins at 12 a.m. Eastern Time (“ET”) on 7/28/16 and ends at 11:59:59 p.m. ET on 8/22/16. Applying later may adversely affect the metrics score used to determine finalists and decrease the ability to advance. Finals scheduled to be held 9/27/16 in Santa Clara, CA, and finalist or representative must attend or will be disqualified. Open to (i) validly-formed legal entities organized in and with a principal place of business in the 50 United States or District of Columbia that are not in bankruptcy and (ii) individuals who are legal residents of 50 United States or District of Columbia, 18 or older, at least the age of majority in their state/jurisdiction of primary residence, and never convicted of a felony or crime of moral turpitude. Void where prohibited by law. SUBJECT TO FULL OFFICIAL RULES, which contain important requirements and restrictions for the Application. Application must represent a solution that helps people prevent, manage, or treat major depressive disorder (“MDD”). Selection is based on (i) Application’s performance metrics on crowdfunding website www.MedStartr.com and (ii) the judging Criteria: (1) Clinical Benefit Potential; (2) Feasibility; (3) Innovativeness; (4) Design / Fundability; and (5) Scalability. Judges will assign between one and five points for each of the Criteria and these scores will be averaged. 1 Finalist with highest score will receive a $35,000 grant* and 1 Finalist with 2nd highest score will receive a $15,000 grant*. Sponsor: Takeda Pharmaceuticals U.S.A, Inc., One Takeda Parkway, Deerfield, IL 60015. *Each grant is to be used to further develop prototype or proof of concept for the selected Applications.  Grant is based on a three-month checkpoint with Sponsor on this progress, at which point both sides have the opportunity to possibly agree on future partnership agreements.
