AMIA Pitch IT

Jump start your latest innovation in medical informatics by applying to participate in the 2019 AMIA Pitch IT competition. The program is designed to accelerate the application of innovative, standards-based terminology solutions to problems in healthcare. Successful pitches will receive a minimum of $5,000 up to $25,000 to fund development of the innovation.

We are seeking entrepreneurs that have new applications of medical or biomedical informatics at the point of care to improve workflow, decision support, precision medicine, and analytics. You will have the chance of a lifetime to present your unique opportunity to a panel of highly successful entrepreneurs and investors, along with an audience of industry leaders during the AMIA 2019 Symposium.

Intellectual Property

Protection of intellectual property rights (ex. patents, trademarks, copyright, trade secrets, etc.) of your concept is your responsibility and your responsibility alone. If you have an idea or product that you might want to patent, we strongly recommend speaking to a lawyer before submitting information about this idea to AMIA Pitch IT!  

 

Please be aware that none of the persons reviewing your application has entered into a non-disclosure or confidentiality agreement. Further, during the competition, you will be voluntarily disclosing information and ideas in a public forum. Any steps that are necessary or prudent to protect your ownership rights, such as trademark registrations or patent applications, are solely your responsibility. AMIA has no obligation to implement any protective measures in this regard. 

 

NO PURCHASE NECESSARY. Open to legal residents of 50 US or Washington, DC who are 18 or older at time of Entry who have never been convicted of a felony or crime of moral turpitude. Application Period begins at 12 a.m. Eastern Time (“ET”) on 7/22/19 and all entries must be received by 11:59:59 p.m. ET on 10/24/2019 to be eligible for a Prize. Applying later may adversely affect the metrics score used to determine finalists and decrease the ability to advance. Finals scheduled to be held 11/17/19 in Washington, D.C., and finalist or representative must attend or will be disqualified. DO NOT APPLY IF YOU DO NOT PLAN TO ATTEND. Void where prohibited by law. SUBJECT TO FULL OFFICIAL RULES, which contain important requirements and restrictions for the Application. Application must represent a solution that represents a new application of medical or biomedical informatics at the point of care to improve workflow, decision support, and/or analytics. Selection is based on (i) Application’s performance metrics on crowdfunding website www.MedStartr.com and (ii) the judging Criteria: (1) Potential Impact of Innovation; (2) Feasibility; (3) Innovativeness; (4) Design / Fundability; (5) Scalability; (6) Participant Affiliation; (7) Adherence to Theme and Official Rules; and (8) Potential for Sustainability based on revenue generation. Odds of winning depend on number and quality of eligible entries received.  One (1) Finalist will receive a $12,500 grant; one (1) Finalist will receive a $7,500 grant; and one (1) Finalist will receive a $5,000 grant. Each grant is to be used to further develop a prototype or proof of concept for the selected innovation.  Grant is based on a monthly checkpoint with Sponsor on this progress. Sponsor: LOF LLC.
