During her time as an oncology nurse, Sangeeta Agarawal realized that her patients would leave cancer-free but would often retain symptoms related to their treatments and the overall experience of surviving cancer. She knew she could reach these neglected cancer survivors using technology. She utilized her previous tech and entrepreneurial background to found Helpsy in April 2015. She got off to a quick start in a successful NIH-funded study testing Helpsy’s survivorship care product in conjunction with the Osher Center at UCSF. She and her team worked to bring her solution live, as well as adding product functionality, HIPAA compliance, and EMR integration for health organizations, hospitals, cancer centers, and other institutions. We are currently live and being used by 2 community cancer centers (standalone), about 70 verified health care professionals (130,000 unverified) and 30 patients on our app. Helpsy is now partnering with hospitals and health providers such as UCSF and Sutter, as well as increasing the number of independent experts on its platform to over 70.
