Amanda (Mandy) Wood is a Project Manager within the Center for Biomedical Informatics at Regenstrief Institute located in Indianapolis, IN. Her specialization is in Training & Development, but has acquired skills in Industrial/Organizational Psychology, Leadership Development, Emotional Intelligence, Quantitative & Qualitative Research, Change Management, Coaching & Mentoring, Adult Learning Theory, Strategic Planning, as well as Organizational Behavior. Her career experiences combine to create a unique and expansive set of knowledge and skills. Time spent within academia, government, and industry as well as non-profit and for-profit organizations has afforded Wood an innovative perspective toward human motivation, performance, and satisfaction within the workplace. Wood’s career began in the biological sciences. Upon completion of her Bachelor of Science degree in Human Biology from Michigan State University in 2005 she was awarded a competitive Cancer Research Training Award from the National Cancer Institute/National Institutes of Health and spent a year researching the role of oxidative stress in cancer development. She then went on to spend eight years as a toxicology technician in the Toxicology and Environmental Research and Consulting (TERC) laboratories of The Dow Chemical Company (Dow). While at Dow, she specialized in molecular, cellular, and predictive toxicology testing. Prior to graduate school, Wood spent approximately two years in the outdoor education industry in various roles at the Chippewa Nature Center. As a Nature Preschool teacher, she developed skills in early childhood development and education, social and emotional learning, nature-based preschool, conscious discipline, pedagogy, as well as play-based education. This was further expanded upon throughout her roles as Nature Day Camp counselor and leadership team member as well as school program educator.
