The Problem We Solve
Do you, or someone you care about, have problems enjoying favorite foods like ice-cream? How about a cold glass of milk or a soft piece of imported cheese? Lacto-Freedom™ probiotic is new and unique patented probiotic that aids in the digestion of lactose containing foods, designed specifically for people with lactose intolerance. About 75 percent of the world’s population, including 25 percent of those in the U.S., lose their lactase enzymes over time. They are unable to eat diary products or lactose containing foods without diarrhea, nausea, gas, abdominal pain, or bloating.
Currently, patients with lactose intolerance are limited to two mediocre options for managing their lactose intolerance. Their limited options include avoiding lactose-containing foods and the other is taking lactase supplements at the start of every single lactose containing meal.
Attempting to avoid all lactose containing foods is difficult, time-consuming, embarrassing, and a nuisance for individuals and it ultimately can result in a deficiency of calcium and vitamin D which can lead to osteoporosis. They would also miss out on many enjoyable foods.

Our Solution
With Lacto-Freedom™ probiotic, patients may enjoy dairy products and lactose containing products without experiencing abdominal pain, gas, abdominal bloating, diarrhea, and nausea…and without the hassle of taking lactase supplements with every lactose containing meal. The patient would take this probiotic for a short amount of time (24 hours) and the effects last for 3 months or more.
In a person with lactose intolerance, lactase, which is the necessary enzyme to break down lactose is in limited supply in the small intestines. Some lactose intolerant patients choose to take lactase supplements at the start of every lactose containing meal. This option can be expensive, a hassle, and embarrassing especially when dining out.
Unfortunately a person may not even be aware that their meal contains lactose, since lactose is added to a lot of different foods such as bread and baked goods, cereals, salad dressings, candies, and snacks. This can result in some one unknowingly ingesting lactose even when they have either tried to avoid all lactose containing foods or skipped a supplement with the belief the meal was lactose free. Lacto-Freedom™ probiotic is our innovative solution with early clinical success.
How it Works
(LF = Lacto-Freedom™ probiotic)
The intestinal lining is made up of billions of bacteria, both good and bad. Probiotics are supplements which contain “good” bacteria and when consumed add beneficial bacteria to the intestines. We developed a probiotic that produces lactase and stays in the intestines for at least three months. When lactose intolerant test animals consumed this probiotic for 24 hours, lactase was produced in the animals’ intestines and this allowed the lactose to be broken down and digested. It worked for the entire duration of the three-month study.
Clinical Data Results
Celprogen, Inc. performed one study on four laboratory rats, two males and two females. The following images show the promising results from the first study.

How We Will You Use the Funds
We will perform a longer 6 month study with different dosages of the probiotic to find the optimum amount needed to achieve the desired effect. The safety of this probiotic will also be confirmed over the course of this study and will prepare the product for human evaluation. A stability test will also be performed to determine the best way to store the probiotic and which dosage form is best (liquid, capsule, freeze dried powder, or pre-mixed in food) This study will bring us a step closer to making this unique probiotic available to the people who need it most, like you and your loved ones.

Our Team
Ken Manzo, R.Ph., Founder of Manzo Pharmaceuticals LLC,
Ken Graduated St. John’s University with a degree in Pharmaceutical Science. He is the inventor of the patented Lacto-Freedom™ probiotic and is working closely with Celprogen, Inc. to produce, develop, and test the safety and efficacy of the product.
Jason Randolph
Jason graduated from the Art Institute of Philadelphia in 2001 with a degree in Computer Animation and Graphic Design. Jason has had a passion for art ever since he could hold a pencil. His creations come from his love for designing, combined with a knowledge of computers and technology.
