About our project

The problem we solve: We provide a safe, healthy way to lose weight quickly, and without suffering too much -- we will offer tasty Italian recipes for you to follow. GawaWay diets also have plenty of positive side effects that will be beneficial to your health.

About our solution: The underlying principle providing ideas and guidelines for the GawaWay project is traditional Tibetan Medicine, applied in an innovative, user-friendly, and most of all, tasty way! 

Progress to date:

We already have an effective DETOX diet, specifically studied to detoxify the liver.  An important investigation from a German hospital about the efficacy of the Tibetan dietary system was recently published, testing the wonderful -- and speedy -- effects of Tibetan diet. About Our Team

Creator: Nicoletta Sauro

Bio: I was born in Verona, Italy, in 1960. I am a professional cook. I ran my own restaurant for some time, and trained other professional cooks as well. I worked and lived in Italy, India, Nepal, Spain and Colombia. I have been studying Tibetan Medicine for 10 years and have been working on the GawaWay project with La-je Dawa Tsering for 4 years.

Biography: Chiara was born in 1981 in a beautiful city in southern Italy, Matera. She studied Linguistics and International Relations in Perugia; then she specialized in Humanitarian Studies in Madrid. She spent some years traveling and working through Europe, the Balkans, Maghreb and South America, finally settling in Colombia 6 years ago. She has worked in International Cooperation and now she works as a professor.

Alejandro Jaramillo

Biography: Alejandro was born in Colombia and currently lives in Bogotá. He studied Informatics and works as an Information Security engineer. He runs a consulting firm in the IT sector. He likes traveling and loves Italian cuisine. He is in charge of evaluating and analyzing risks related to the security of the site. He developed the program for the Energetic Type Test.

Dawa Tsering
La-je , La-je (Doctor in Tibetan medicine)
Biography: Laje Dawa Tzering was born in Lahul, in the Indian Himalayas region. He began to study Tibetan medicine at the age of 8 with his grandfather, who was a Tibetan Doctor (La-je). In 1982, Dawa went to Dharamshala, where he joined the Men-Tsee-Khang, the University of Medicine wanted by H.H. the Dalai Lama, where he graduated in 1986. After graduation, he worked in various clinics of the Men-Tsee-Khang until 1993, when he went to teach at the Medical Institute of Trogawa Rinpoche in Darjeeling.

Gawaway is a special dietary style: there is no such thing as a "general diet" that is good for all, since each of us, and our bodies, are different, Tibetan medicine works with this difference. Our objective is to create 6 different weight loss diets, for people with different Energetic Types --  plus 6 more veg friendly diet. The reason why Tibetan medicine-based diets are so effective and good for your health is that food intake is not balanced according to the amounts of carbohydrates, proteins etc. that are assumed, but according with how food interplays with your Energetic Type. This is also why we call it acupuncture through food -- it is based on acupuncture principles. We are sure you will love it!

The Tibetan Medicine system includes a very ancient and effective dietary system. 

This dietary system was tested in the Department of Cardiology “Johann Wolfgang Goethe” of the University “Frankfurt am Main”, in Frankfurt, Germany with very good results. 

The only real problem with the Tibetan dietary system so far was that, before a project like GawaWay had been put in place, you would have had to have a Tibetan Doctor nearby, who would be able to understand what to do with each patient, and how to do it. GawaWay is a new approach to this dietary system: it's simple, tasty and effective. It can help your patient to lose weight quite fast, without too much hassle, and without any negative side effect. This kind of diet will indeed improve your patients' health quite a lot. 

The Tibetan system works similarly to acupuncture: acupuncture works on somebody's energetic system, by working on special points of the body. GawaWay does not use any needles, it uses food instead. 

Each kind of food has an energetic balance. When we ingest it, this food affects and changes our body's energetic balance. If we eat in a way that is not suitable for our "energetic constitution", we may gain weight, or lose too much weight, and even get sick, later on.

It is a new system with ancient roots, based on Tibetan medicine, which works similarly to acupuncture, using food rather than needles, making it very effective. It is a revolutionary way to understand the power of food, letting go of the traditional categories of protein, carbohydrates and so on, understanding food through its energetic value. 

Tibetan Medicine sees the world as the result of the interplay of 5 elements, or energies: wind, fire, earth, water and space. These 5 elements are also found in the human body, and their combination in different proportions forms 3 different body humors: Wind (wind + space), Bile (fire) and Phlegm (earth + water). When the three humors in our body are balanced, we are healthy, when there is an imbalance, we get sick. The three humors – Wind, Bile and Phlegm – are not all equally present in each individual's body. Even when perfectly healthy, we all have a different balancing of these Humors, and this balancing is called your Energetic Type. The 5 elements are present in the outer world (and, consequently, inside food), as well as in the inner world (people's bodies). 

If you think this way, it is easy to understand that diet is a fundamental tool to preserve the balance of the the energies within our body. The results of this research were published in 2013, and this was the researchers' conclusion: “Tibetan diet reduces body weight and BMI in patients with CAD and metabolic syndrome after 6 months, significantly more effectively than the Western diet, and may induce lipid-modifying and anti-inflammatory effects”.

We will only sell e-books so we do not need FDA status.

How we will use the funds raised

3800€ will be used to keep the Company alive. 

Around 5000€ will be spent to set up our online shop, fixing the issues that the team cannot fix independently, as well as to set up the e-books layouts -- we have 12 e-books ready to lay-out and we will have 12 more coming up for the slimming diets) and other expenses connected with the internet.

I will have to work full time on the project for a year, and 10,000€ will fund my living expenses.  4000/5000€ will cover La-je Dawa's travels and expenses.  

Any extra money will be used to pay Chiara and Alejandro, so they can start working for Gawaway full time -- this would be wonderful for them, since their contribution for now is basically a labour of love.

  • About the diet and the e-bboks
    We will have 6 different diets for weight loss and each of them will have two options. The normal one and the veg friendly one. And this is explaining why it will take one full year to complete the task!

  • Why our project name is Gawaway?
    Do you know what does it means "Gawa" in Tibetan? Gawa means "Joy". Gawaway means "the Path of Joy": Because this is our aim: to bring joy in people's life trough a different way of understanding food!

  • Are you curious of our DETOX recipes? Here is one of them!
    The DETOX diet is only one. We do not have many versions (on the contrary we will have many versions in the slimming diet) because it has only a main object: the liver (and the stomach). And this is the same for everybody. During our lifetime, the liver is going on collecting garbage. Because of our wrong food, or pollution or because of stress. We never care. But it is very important if you want to be healthy, to take care of your liver from when you turn thirty There are not so many ingredients that help the liver, and there are many, severe limitations, but I managed to create tasty recipes with them. We are nearby Halloween, so this is a nice appetizer for you, the Pumpkin Hummus liver friendly Pumpkin Hummus Preparation: 15 ' Cooking time: 15' Yield: 6 Ingredients: 450 gr. pumpkin (including seeds and peel) 1/2 garlic clove 20 ml. lemon/lime juice 4 teaspoons tahina nutmeg to taste very little salt Directions: Wash the skin of the pumpkin, remove the seeds and filaments, cut it into 1 cm thick slices and bake in preheated oven at 180ºC degrees for 10-15 minutes. When the pumpkin pulp gets soft, remove from the oven and peel it. Peel and cut the garlic in half. Put the pumpkin to cool. Reduce the pumpkin to a puree, then add the other ingredients. Mix well. After an hour, remove the garlic. Serve as an appetizer with pita bread or chapatis or unleavened bread.
